Over the entire semester I've learned about how a baby is developed through the 9 months and what kind of things can go wrong. I've leaned how some things mothers can't help prevent the disabilities but some they can. I've learned how to take care of a baby. What to do what not to do. I also learned special words for things.

11/13

November 13th I learned that socialization is the process of learning to get along with others. This starts within the child's family and then with people in other groups. I also learned that children don't really play together they parallel which is when children play next to each other, not together. Each child plays independently, works best with two children. Cooperative play is when children play an they interact with each other.
11/6

November 6th I learned about emotional patterns where the child feels emotions the child never felt before such as, jealousy, frustration, and rebellion. Then later happiness, calmness, and stability. Negative periods tend to alternate with positive periods and they are related to the child's age. an only child will have different experiences from a child who is one of five children. An intense child may become more frustrated than an adaptable child.
10/16

October 16th I learned general care. A toddler is called that because of the way he/she walks or toddles. The toddlers gain less than half the average monthly weight they did during the first year of life. Growth slows about half. Amount of daily feeding goes up between the 12 to 36 months, the amount of sleep stays the same through the 12 to 36 months of being a toddler. I also learned about sleeping issues such as night terrors, sleep-Deprived, REM,NREM.
10/9

October 9th I learned about the babies brain development. Cognitive and physical develop faster in the first year of life. The environment has a major impact on the brain development. The increased brain function is due to the quantity and quality of the experience the baby has. At birth, the brain has billion's of neurons called nerve cells. The cortex is a part of the brain's cerebrum and its growth permit more complex learning.
10/2

October 2nd I learned emotional development begins at birth and all through life, its just as important as physical development. The bond between child and the caregiver it very important, the best way is skin to skin contact. Emotional care is also important, which includes cuddling, singing, and massaging the baby. Attachment are crucial to the healthy emotional development.

We made flour babies and get to keep them for a week. My first day was good it was heavy but as I held it it got lighter. Making the baby was fun. It was very weird and funny but also very fun. dressing it up was also fun. sometimes old people would look at me weird. it did get annoying at school when I would get my lunch or pack up when the bell rang.
9/18

September 18th I learned its very important to take care of yourself afterbirth and take care of your newborn exceptionally the first month of birth. I also found out the baby has to be looked at and examined right after birth to see if the baby has any problems. Testing after birth can detect brain damage and organ damage. There are  a lot of interesting facts such as, in some cases the baby might die and the mother holds it and the baby will come alive. Skin to skin contact can build the mother and baby or father and baby bond.

I learned about how many risks you will take when getting pregnant. When you give birth you could die or the baby could die of so many reasons or have problems for the rest or your life. Most problems you just are born with but the mom could do everything right and born with a problem or be perfectly fine and don't know why. The mom could be a druggy and the baby could have so many problems or be perfectly fine. It all just depends on you and your family history.
